Day 13 - Lake Louise

 Christmas Eve

It has been snowing for most of today. As good as the facilities at the Chateau are, they are not cheep so we wondered into Lake Louise town for lunch. Outside of garage stations I didn't think there were many options but was surprised by the number of lodges open and hidden on side roads. I was a little worried that once we detoured off the main roads that we would be stuck given the amount of snow that was coming down.

This photo was taken to send home when all of the Merry Christmas
messages started coming through. While it was 41C at home, we
had snow floating around us and were rugged up in 4 layers of
clothing.

After lunch we headed up into some of the mountain walks around the hotel. At this time of year the walk is probably best performed with snow shoes, but we managed to spend about an hour walking up and around the forest. In here we found beautiful soft and undisturbed mounds of snow. If you were lucky, you were walking directly behind Isabelle and she would gently pull down on a snow laden branch right as she had walked past. If you were really lucky, all of that snow sitting on the branch would fling directly back at you.

Belle had a ball walking through the forest, casually sitting back into a lump of fluffy snow, or throwing herself face forward into it.

I am definitely still recovering from the cold that I picked up in Florida. For what ever reason I cannot seem to shift the congestion in my ears and it has really been bugging me, so much so, it was easy to spend the afternoon napping. Either that or the day spa and many saunas have sapped me.

Tonight we headed back to the room for a Christmas movie and an early night. We all needed to be tucked into bed before Santa arrived.
